STALL-AND-START METHOD
When a slope becomes too steep to reach the top, your vehicle is likely to stall. The stall-and-start method is a classic technique that allows a driver with a manual transmission to remain safe without losing control of the vehicle.
Switch off the ignition and firmly place your right foot on the brake.
While keeping your foot on the brake, press the clutch and engage reverse gear.
Slowly release the clutch pedal, then the brake. The vehicle will not roll backward on the slope because reverse gear is engaged.
Check that the slope behind you is clear and turn the ignition back on while keeping your feet on the floor.
The vehicle is now in reverse, and you can descend smoothly and safely to the bottom with the vehicle in gear.
Brake if necessary without touching the clutch or accelerator.
