DELPHINE CROSSE SHOWING THE WAY AT THE CARTA RALLYE

04/06/2018

As part of Good Project, BFGoodrich® supported Delphine Crosse and her co-driver Xavier Dessemon at the Carta Rallye 2018, a rallye raid run in Morocco from the 11th to 19th of March. Over 2,000 km of fun and adventure on sand with Delphine at the wheel, for a 10th spot in the overall rankings.

The first day started out from the town of Guelmim on March 11th. The first step was the opportunity for Delphine and Xavier to "find their feet" and learn how to harness the car and the terrain. Between miles of sand-dunes, the night run and sandstorms, there was to be no let-up for our crew.

"On the Friday, at the Mhamid loop, a gusty sandstorm blew up, visibility was down to 50 meters. With another crew we decided to turn back for safety reasons. Afterwards we learned that the Special had been cancelled. But it's a great memory, we had a whole lot of tales to tell once back at the bivouac!", said Delphine Crosse.

As the only woman driver in the Cross-Country category, Delphine used all her racing skills and experience working at careful and consistent navigation. The final event at Merzouga was a concentrate of everything they had lived through during the rallye: 120 km of rolling trails, sand and dunes. "For my first rallye in the Cross Country category, I tried to build up as much experience and information about the trails as possible. My co-driver Xavier won this category in 2015: his help was invaluable with some pretty high-precision navigation work." Their efforts paid off: Delphine and Xavier were ranked 10th overall and returned with some unforgettable memories.

BFGoodrich® would like to congratulate Delphine and Xavier once again for their race and their success. We hope to see them again on the starting line at the next Carta Rallye. With a podium finish as a bonus? There's nothing better we could wish for!

"It was a great experience throughout the whole rallye. A life-size learning experience with its fair share of hazards and everything a rallye raid has to offer."
