| For all motoring enthusiasts, 4x4 fanatics, and connoisseurs of beautiful cars, BFGoodrich's role is to offer tyres which enhance your driving experience, by providing sporty, yet controlled driving in all conditions.
Here are a few driving term definitions:
| 4x4 traction This is the equivalent of grip on asphalt. It gives BFGoodrich's 4x4 tyres excellent driveability on all surfaces: tarmac, gravel, sand, mud, etc. | |
Responsiveness The speed and degree of the tyre/vehicle's response to the driver's actions. This response can define the tyre's "sportiness".
Weight transfer This is the transfer of weight to the front or rear of the vehicle depending on whether you are braking or accelerating.
| When you accelerate, the front of your vehicle tends to lift and the rear tends to drop. This is because weight is transferred to the rear during acceleration, leading to an increased load on the rear axle. | |
When you brake, the front of your vehicle tends to drop and the rear tends to lift. This is because weight is transferred to the front during braking, leading to an increased load on the front axle.
Oversteer Oversteer occurs when the rear axle's slip is greater than that of the front axle. When turning a bend, the car seems to want to turn more than you want it to. Your vehicle tends to drift too much towards the inside of the bend.
Understeer Understeer occurs when the front axle's slip is greater than that of the rear axle. When turning a bend, the car seems to want to go straight on more than you want it to. Your vehicle tends to drift too much towards the outside of the bend.
